J.D. Power, a global market research firm, recently released the results of its 2026 China Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS), which focuses on long-term vehicle durability. The study reveals that Chery once again ranked highest among Chinese domestic brands, with the Tiggo 7/7 Plus and Tiggo 8 Pro topping their respective segments. This highlights the enduring quality of Chery vehicles.

The VDS measures the number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) reported by owners during the past six months, covering vehicles owned for 13 to 48 months. A lower score indicates higher quality. In 2026, the industry overall averaged 192 PP100, with mass market brands at 195 PP100, premium brands at 183 PP100 and Chinese domestic brands at 201 PP100. Chery recorded 181 PP100, ranking highest among Chinese domestic brands — 11 points better than the industry average and 20 points better than the domestic brand average.

In 2021, it pioneered the industry by introducing a lifetime warranty on all engines. In 2023, it upgraded this to a lifetime warranty on all vehicles. In 2024, it further expanded the coverage to include officially certified pre-owned vehicles under its lifetime warranty system.
