Overview of Wuhu's Education System

Wuhu has a comprehensive education system. Currently, the city has a total of 974 primary and secondary schools as well as kindergartens of all educational levels and types, along with 6 undergraduate universities and 6 higher vocational and technical colleges. Foreigners can choose to enroll their child/children in public or private schools. For specific policies, it is recommended to consult the Wuhu Education Bureau or the education administrative department of every district.

School Requirements for Children of Foreigners in Wuhu

According to the "Administrative Regulations for the Enrollment & Education of International Students in Schools of Anhui Province (Trial)" issued by the Education Department of Anhui Province, primary and secondary schools, as well as kindergartens in Wuhu, primarily accept international students who live in China with their parents. Schools that enroll international students under the age of eighteen whose parents do not reside in China must require these students' parents to formally entrust a foreigner or a Chinese citizen residing in China as the student's guardian, and provide relevant proof materials. If a foreign resident in China is entrusted as a guardian, their guardianship is valid only within the validity period of their residence permit. The visa or residence permit issued by the Department of Immigration Administration of Wuhu Municipal Public Security Bureau for international students shall not exceed the period of validity of the residence permit held by the residing foreigner.

Children of foreigners can choose to attend either public or private schools.

Enrollment info in public and private compulsory education schools in Wuhu

According to the regulations of compulsory education in Anhui Province and Wuhu, children of foreign nationals are required to obtain proof from the Foreign Affairs Office of Wuhu. The education authorities in the area where they reside will then coordinate their school enrollment (parents need to provide residence proof or property ownership certificate). If the children of foreign nationals meet the requirements of compulsory education and school enrollment, they can be enrolled according to regulations.

The enrollment of preschool education shall be implemented according to the enrollment requirements of compulsory education.

According to the guidelines for high school enrollment in Anhui Province and Wuhu, only junior high school graduates who register for the high school entrance examination in Wuhu can apply for general high school programs (including international classes in general high schools). A unified enrollment process is implemented for high school education.
