Wuhu held its quarterly work conference and investment-talent attraction conference on July 29. The meeting called for thoroughly studying and implementing the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the decisions of the CPC Central Committee, acting on the requirements of the provincial quarterly work conference, and rallying the entire city to strive for breakthroughs in the third quarter and victory in the second half to accomplish the annual targets with high quality. Ning Bo, secretary of the CPC Wuhu municipal committee, attended and addressed the meeting. Xu Zhi, deputy secretary of the CPC Wuhu municipal committee and mayor, reported on the progress of key work in the second quarter. Zhang Feng, director of the Standing Committee of the Wuhu Municipal People's Congress, Zhang Dong, chairman of the Wuhu Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and other leading officials of the city were present. Li Xin, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Wuhu municipal committee, presided over the meeting.
Ning said that since the beginning of this year, the city has acted on the CPC Central Committee's decisions and the provincial Party committee's call to rank higher in three key areas — economic aggregate, development quality and per-capita levels. Efforts to stabilize employment, businesses, market confidence and expectations have paid off, with the economy making steady progress while improving in quality. But he also warned that considerable headwinds remain, urging officials to adopt innovative thinking, take stronger action and deliver breakthroughs across the board.
Ning urged a shift in mindset and approach, calling for new investment-promotion models — led by anchor enterprises, backed by funds and driven by scenarios — to build the "1868" modern industrial system and raise the quality of investment promotion and talent attraction. The city will work to boost consumption, expand effective investment and unleash internal drivers for high-quality growth. Ning also called for putting people first in urban renewal, with meticulous efforts to build better housing, communities, neighborhoods and districts. Regular outreach to enterprises and villages should continue to help businesses cut costs, raise efficiency and overcome difficulties. More efforts are needed to fix gaps in public services so that residents can truly feel the benefits of concrete progress. Environmental protection remains a priority, with continued efforts to keep the skies blue, waters clear and lands clean, push forward energy conservation and carbon reduction, and accelerate the green transition across the economy and society. Safety must come first, with work underway to raise standards across the board. Ning also called for deeper study and implementation of Xi's thoughts on Party building, urging officials to honor commitments made by predecessors, clear backlogged public complaints, intensify the campaign against corruption that harms the public interest, and ensure the education program on Xi's thoughts yields real results. Solid work will deliver tangible achievements during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.
At the meeting, representatives of several enterprises spoke, describing Wuhu as fertile ground for innovation and entrepreneurship with enormous development potential. They said they would continue to engage with the city and push for more concrete cooperation outcomes.
